Someone please get UMG a tissue

The French division of Universal Music Group is continuing their emo charge against iTunes today, calling it’s contract with the digital distributer “indecent”. They are unhappy because they only get 70 percent of the profits from sales on iTunes.

Do you know what they pay the people who actually create that content? 5 to 7 percent. Add to that the fact that they generally “loan” the artist more than the 5 percent they expect the artist to earn, thereby bankrupting the artist before completion of contract. The label then breaks the contract with the artist, then sues the artist for the difference, forcing them to become a short-order cook at a bar on the West-side of Cleveland. True story.
